Transamerica's Group Medicare Prescription Drug Plan solution ― Medicare GenerationRx℠ (Employer PDP) provides prescription drug benefits to employer groups and their eligible Medicare retirees. Structured as an "800-series" Employer Group Waiver Plan (EGWP), Medicare GenerationRx℠ allows employers to shift their retiree claims liability and administrative burden to the EGWP plan for an affordable monthly premium.


With a variety of plan design and contribution options, employer and union groups can match existing benefit structures, minimize member disruption, and effectively manage their benefit costs. Medicare GenerationRx℠ can offer many advantages over Retiree Drug Subsidy (RDS), and other Medicare prescription drug plans including maximized subsidies from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), brand discounts in the coverage gap, and fully-compliant administrative services.

All Medicare Part D eligible retirees and their eligible spouses (based on employer group eligibility requirements).

The plan, branded Medicare GenerationRx℠, is a fully-insured group plan underwritten by Transamerica Life Insurance Company (Rutland, VT), a Transamerica company. Transamerica Life Insurance Company has been rated A+ (Superior, 2nd of 16 rating categories) by A.M. Best Company as of April 15, 2016. Transamerica Life Insurance Company (a Transamerica Company) is a PDP plan sponsor with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in this plan depends on contract renewal.


Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-Star rating system. Star ratings are calculated each year and may change from one year to the next.
